The hosts are arriving daily now, from all over the country. This maintenance compound yard looks like a campground now.
So far, we have the smallest camper; they range all the way up to big rigs. They have driven here from as far away as Florida, Yakima, Washington, Idaho, and even Holland, Ohio. That particular gentleman is a pipe fitter and knows one of Chris' cousins, and also knows a guy we knew from the Mudjaw Bowmen Archery Club. Truly a small world.
Everyone has had their tales of woe making the daunting trip over the Alaskan Highway: i.e. oil leak in the big rig, awnings ripping off, almost getting stuck in very small campgrounds, not finding a campground open (no duh....that happened to everyone since Alaska is not open for business yet, nor is Canada), and snow storms, flat tires, washboard roads, a big 5th wheel that got bounced so bad on the Alaska Hwy that stuff inside broke, etc. Not a road for the faint of heart...especially before tourist season opens.
Took my daily jaunt to the top of the hill to see if Denali was still visible today. Yup. There she is in all her glory. Love it. Spent lots of time today visiting with folks from all over everywhere.
These are the super treats. We were introduced to these treats when we visited Talkeetna. I had already read that the chum salmon are what the Eskimos catch to feed to their dogs; hence they are called "dog salmon" or chums. These dog treats are made from those salmon...hence, "yummy chummies". Tommy does flips of them. And we'll be bringing some home with us.

Until we "connect" again....
