AUGUST 8; AAAAH.....A BREATHER FROM THE HEAT!

This past week end there was a fund-raiser at Twin Mills. Will tell you about that later. I had a nice little time in the middle of the day when I got to pop over to the Amigo Center outside of Sturgis, where Brittany had been at band camp for school. She plays the violin. This is the orchestra. They played 8 songs....pretty good, too.

Here's Brittany flashing her beautiful smile for grandma.

Now back to the fund-raiser: Camp for a Cure. We were walking down to the starting point for the 1 mile walk and the 5 K fun run. That's me on the far right....

Get ready.....get set......GO!!!!!

I was, obviously, in the rear of the pack.....walking.

Not a great picture of me.....but didn't have a choice....

OK....now you're going to see the pictures of my favorite runner.....yes....the golden doodle.

This was this puppy's first race.....he's under a year old.

I was fascinated with how he drank water.

The "official" picture by the photographer....me.

Chris fishing at Pine Knob....look close....

Chris bringing the boat around to load it....

Loading boat at Pine Knob. Note all of the lilly pads. The whole lake is surrounded with them.

Chris brought one of the lilly pad flowers back to the camper. Funny thing about it. In the afternoon each day it closed up; then in the morning it opened. Very beautiful

Two weeks ago there was a Hawaiian theme at the campground. Here is the contest for dressing up Hawaiian.

This was not fair.....because I had a moo-moo from when we went to Hawaii. Perfect time to wear it.

Here's the activity director doing the limbo. Believe me.....it didn't get much lower than this.

During those awefully hot days last week....look what we saw out in the lake. These lake folks had four pontoons lashed together just floating around in the lake. And I bet there was a lot of drinking and eating going on out there. You can even see a head out in the lake....they were swimming out there. Chris often says that he would love to jump in out in the middle of the lake because the water is so clear and warmer out there....but he couldn't get back in the boat. Big problem!

Chris is here going out fishing one night last week. In the back is Dick, Chris' fishing buddy. He met him here while Dick was fishing from the dock. Chris offered him to go out in the boat with him. And the rest is history. In the front of the boat is Russ, the director of maintenance here at the camp. Very nice young man.

And here they go..................they had a good catch that night, too. They go out about 8 pm and get back about 11 p.m. Then he cleans the fish right then.

The weather is supposed to be cooler this week. Looks like only 2 days are even going to hit

80 degrees! Woopee! When it was so hot we seemed to go from the pool to the lake, to the pool, to the lake, and then ride out in the lake trying to catch a breeze. Very hot!

Please pray for the families of those 21 special forces who died in Afganistan last week....and the other Americans on that helicopter. May they rest in peace. We are grateful for their services and sacrifice.

Have a great week....until we "connect" again....
