Happy Birthday, David. You would love all the birds that we saw today. Our day trip was to Lake Mirror in Lakeland. No crocodiles here....they keep them cleaned out of here.
Beautiful lake, gardens and a wonderful walk. Then we came upon the "mystery birds". Finally have them named.
These are the black skimmers; unique beaks. The bottom beak is longer than the top one. They skim along the water, putting the lower beak in the water to catch small fish.
Then we came upon Chris standing for about ten minutes watching something....
These ducks were catching his attention....but wait.....there's more.
It was "bath day" for the ducks....they just kept cleaning and preening for the longest time.
And scratching....and enjoying themselves.
The gardens were astounding, bounding with color.
The delay photo came in handy again, for a group photo. The weary travelers; had loads of fun today. Now for a dip in the pool....yup, the pool. It's almost 80 degrees and the pool is heated.
