Today is a rainy day. Campground is quiet. It was only 1/3 filled last night because of the fishing being closed. Otherwise it would have been packed to overflowing. Walked down to the creek and saw some king salmon jumping. It's as if they are flaunting anybody who would be watching: "Na Na....can't get me now..."

A nice friendship has developed with a couple of other hosts. Chris decided to hike into Redshirt Lake with them (on their weekly trip back to their cabin)on Thursday. I didn't go along: big mistake. I had mistakenly assumed our campground would be more busy than it was. (I did get lots of stuff done, though.) This is along the 3-mile path they walked.

A little family of grouse met them on the trail.

Beautiful, huh? Not a bad view each morning....
That's Lauren on the dock.

Chris decided that there were no pike in this lake after he fished it all day. But he did see an eagle couple (they mate for life) perched on top of two trees. Look close.

Here's the close-up. Beautiful....
Some of the fireweed are beginning to bloom.
Tomorrow is the 4th of July. I hope more folks come to camp. But, in my right mind, I would not go camping if it were raining. We are getting some of the over-flow from the near by campgrounds, which are packed. We feel like the Maytag repairman....
Yesterday we walked around with the metal detector to see if we could find a something fantastic, let's say, a gold nugget... We found many bottle caps, a penny, a piece of wire...and that's about it. But we had fun.
So, until we "connect" again....
