MERRY CHRISTMAS...MAY 2

OK....I know that it's not May 2....but these are yesterday's pictures. They go from Mile 0 to Toad River Campground at Mile 404. It seems more like Christmas, though, because we woke up to 2.5" of nice wet snow this morning. I have some great pics that are not downloaded to computer....they will follow on the next post. This is Chris doing is specialty....sausage, egg mcmuffins a la' Chris.

If you look hard at the top, right side of that mountain, you can see the profile of a traditional indian head....look hard. It's there...

This is the metal deck of one of the bridges. Obviously it was replaced....about 20 yrs. ago.

This should mean something....but we don't hav a great history of seeing wildlife along the road. OK, except the time the deer RAN INTO Chris' truck....

......But look look at this young sweethart, just standing off to the side of the road looking at us...

Chris says that she's a young cow. I certainly wouldn't know.

When we stopped for gas yesterday, this motel was across the street. It's definitely not the Holiday Inn. It looks a lot like the construction camps we had seen in AK.

We ran into this as we climbed into the Rockies. I don't have my log here (didn't want to walk though snow with it) So can't recall the name of the pass.

Snowing...along the road

A little out of order... The beautiful snow capped mountains that were in the distance as we entered the Rockies. Little did we know how much snow we were going to run into.

This is our first glimpse of the Toad River Lodge and RV park. Doesn't look that way this morning. Those pictures will be on my next post. They said, here in the lodge that the road to the south that we passed over yesterday is not good and want folks to hold up traversing it.

The road ahead of us is OK, no warnings for it. So we're going to push on.
