Aaaah....the second half of May 3. What a day...

These beautiful sights I just loved. I kept taking loads of pictures of them, too. That's the Rockies in all their glory. We have traveled about 780 or so miles on the Alaska Hwy. This trip has been so different from the last.
I was even the first to spot the bear! It was just lumbering around grazing. The traffic was so scarce on the hwy. that Chris even turned around in the middle of the road so that we could go back and see it better. We waited and waited....she kept eating. Finally I whistled at her....from inside the safety of our truck. ..and she paid no attention. Finally I yelled at her. She put her head up and then kept on eating. Finally we honked the horn at her....no response. So we did another u turn and kept on going. Couldn't get a better picture of her.
This is the bridge to Teslin, where we camped tonight. It is such a beautiful bridge. I always think of the Bridge over the River Kwai when I see this picture.

There we are in Teslin....pop. 500. We are so ahead of the season here, that we can only get electricity, because their water is still frozen. But that's OK with us.

We stopped about noon in Watson Lake, to check on our sign at the Sign Forest, that we put up 2 years ago.

View from our campground in Teslin.
OK now....jump back to Watson Lake. There's Chris pointing at our sign.

We've come 2819 miles from Waterloo. Some homesick soldier started putting up these signs when they were building the highway back in 1942-3. He really started something. Now there are over 30,000 signs.
Looking back on today....we have seen moose, bear and buffalo....we have driven through rain, snow and sunshine, seen beautiful snow capped mountains, traveled 368 miles today. We stopped at the same restaurant in Watson Lake that we did 2 yrs. ago...just for their Greek Salad. They didn't have it any more. Bummer.
So, we are tucked in for the night with it raining outside.
Until we connect again....
