ONCE IN A LIFETIME - CHRIS GOES ON A JAVELINA HUNT

Outside of Marfa, Texas, close to the Mexican border, Dean (R) scans the gorgeous landscape for javelinas (i.e. "devil" pigs). The hunters flew into San Antonio, but Chris drove there with two coolers in the back of his truck so that he could bring the meat home. The up-side of the long drive was that Chris got an extra day of hunting.
Here Dean poses with his javelina.

While hunting, Chris came upon this old movie set. Wish he had gotten up close and taken some pictures.
This is one wierd cactus.
After a very successful hunt for javelinas, wild pigs, and lots of comraderie, Chris left on Sunday, February to begin the long drive home. He was dodging the bad weather that was blowing through the whole country: fog in Texas, ice on the bi-pass around Little Rock, and then headed north out of West Memphis, Arkinsaw (yes, that's the right state) on the back-end of the snow storm that was gripping the nation. The last 30 miles from Ft. Wayne to home was the worst he related. He arrived home Tuesday evening, February 9....and headed right for the hot tub!
Yup....all had a good time. Now to get back to Alaska planning....
